Mastering The Use Of The App Food Allergy Scanner - Bokha

Say goodbye to food label stress. Bokha is a simple app that scans food products and helps you review allergens, traces, and additives from the Open Food Facts database.

We've all been there in the grocery aisle, wondering whether a product might contain something problematic. Bokha is designed to help you review product data faster — for yourself, and for everyone you shop for.

With a quick scan, Bokha shows:
• A simple green, yellow, or red indicator based on allergen matches found in the database
• Allergens and traces declared in the product data, including wheat
• A handy history of previously scanned products

Need to check a whole cart? Turn on bulk scan and keep scanning products one after another, without stopping between each barcode.

Shopping for more than one person? Create profiles so each person has their own allergens to detect, scan history, and favorites.

How does it work?
1. Open the app and set the allergens you want to detect — including wheat, gluten, milk, nuts, and more
2. Scan a food barcode, or keep scanning in bulk without interruption
3. Get immediate results showing whether matching allergens are found in database data
4. Switch profiles when you're checking products for someone else
5. Save products you want to revisit

Useful features:
• Fast detection of common allergens, including wheat
• Bulk scan to review many products in a row without interruption
• Multiple profiles, each with their own allergens, history, and favorites
• Clear, color-coded alerts
• Personalized results based on the active profile's selected allergens
• A growing list of products with no matching allergen found in database data
• Easy sharing with family members

Premium gives you:
• Unlimited product scanning
• Bulk scan mode
• Multiple user profiles
• Full scan history
• Detailed additive information
• Unlimited favorites
• More comprehensive product analysis

Bokha connects to Open Food Facts, a collaborative database with thousands of products worldwide.

Doesn't have wheat allergy as an option. Also, it instantly asks you to rate the app before you even get to see the app itself, it's in the walk-through before the full app is seen. Then they want to charge for this??? 1 star for not having wheat, a super common allergy. Wish I could drop the star level more, because I don't want to be harassed to rate an app, even more so before I ever get to use the app. Definitely don't recommend.

Hi, as explained within the app, the number of allergens Bokha detects is limited (14) for legal reasons. Wheat cannot be detected accurately. Gluten is supported. I'm asking for the user to rate the app during the onboarding as a support - I'm not living off Bokha, giving a review is 100% optional but matters to me, maintaining an app has a cost.

Rn I installed this app but I instantly deleted it, not because the app itself was bad, but it has limited availability for allergies, because I have a pretty rare allergy, it's not useful for me, now I know that it haves technical problems, but I'll be waiting

Hello, we understand the issue, and as explained in the app, the list of allergens we can detect is limited by the official allergens list decided by US and EU regulators, which is quite limited. Unfortunately, we cannot accurately improve our system with this limitation.

The app's user interface is made very well, it's just sad that the options are limited for now, as none of my allergies are included in the app

Hello, thank you for your feedback! Unfortunately, the list of allergens is limited by the official liste of allergens decided by US/EU regulators. We cannot detect more allergens that what they decide is an allergen.

What’s new

Bokha comes with a small technical update to improve the user experience!
